FUTURE HISTORY
In the year 2017, a plague of unknown origin struck the planet Earth, turning the population into an army of marauding psychopaths. In less than nine months, the world's population dropped from seven billion to about 100,000 before a vaccine was eventually discovered.
After what would be called The Year of Chaos, the survivors would all migrate to North America where three kingdoms would eventually emerge, the Romanesque Euro-American Commonwealth in the east, the Asian-influenced Tetzu Empire in the west and the Arab-Mexican People’s Republic of Hispainia in what was once Texas and Central America.
The Euro-American Commonwealth was originally the Tiberian Reich, founded in 2033 by the evil dictator Marcus Tiberius who would declare war against the Tetzu Empire twenty years later in a bid to expand his influence. After 11 years of war, a man named Demetrius Arcadius started a revolt against Marcus, which eventually led to the dictator’s downfall and the start of a more democratic monarchy led by the Arcadians even since.
The Tetzu Empire as founded in 2045 by Nobunaga Tanaka who united the country as a feudal state, rewarding those who joined him with Daimyoship while dealing death to those who opposed him. During the founding of his nation, Nobunaga heard of a sect in Anchorage, Alaska known as the Du Run Runs, noted masters in the skills of Bugei, the martial arts. Wanting them to train his growing army, Nobunaga tried to draft them by claiming Alaska was part of his empire, but after being defeated by the Du Run Runs’ leader, Master Shaw, allowed them to keep their independence and formed an alliance with them.
The People’s Republic of Hispainia was founded by Kareem Fez the Great, a simple Iman who migrated to Texas and, with his followers, the Conquistadors, ended a jihad betwixt the Catholics and the Muslims who were feuding over religious/political ideology and the rich oil deposits in South America. He eventually united the Hispainians with a common interest that both the Catholics and the Muslims shared, Money. The nation’s motto is Ganar Dinero, No Guerra! (Make Money, Not War!)
Dividing the three kingdoms is what is known as the Wastelands which covers about 70 percent of North America and half of which is unuseable due to 20th Century pollution, overstuffed landfills, nuclear waste and chemical weapons dumping grounds.
It was in 2215 that the Euro-Tetzu War erupted over the useable areas within the wastelands. Despite the abundance of good land, either side could agree upon reliable boundaries, which was mostly due to industrialists on both sides who could smell the profit of mass farming. Hispainia remained neutral during the conflict, profiting from oil sales while acting as mediator for prisoner exchanges and a tourist spot.
It was in 2236 that the wasteful bloodshed started taking its toll upon the two nations as food and medical supplies prompted a former Tetzu shogun, Osamu Okami and a form Euro Chaplin, the Rev. Angus Tallman to rally the youths of their respective nation to protest the conflict, 1960's style.
This course of action prompted the Tetzu emperor, Hiroshi Tanaka, to challenge the Euro Monarch, Lord Augustus Arcadius, to meet him in a valley in the wastelands, alone and naked save for their athletic supporters (to show that they don’t have any weapons). Thus, what would be known as the Jock Strap Peace Talks ended the Euro-Tetzu War and led to an era of peace and prosperity. . .
. . .until 2249, when Caligula Gaius Tiberius came to power.
